When I'm trying to save a font it won't overwrite an existing version any suggestions

Please clarify what kind of error you are getting.
If you mean that you can't physically overwrite the file: - make sure that you are not trying to save it into the Windows font directory. - check that the font file is not read only
Or if you mean that the new edited font is not replacing the old one: - uninstall the old version first or - rename the font's family name before saving/installing
