Been using Type 3.2 (Trial version). Reading the manual it reads:
Navigate around the edit window (main display area), by using the scrollbars or by right-clicking on a clear area to grab and drag the window.
..whether I'm zoomed in or out—other than the scrollbars—(with the select tool selected and right-clicking[holding right-click]) how does the 'right-clicking' method work? I'm not getting any movement (navigation within the display window).
Also, how do you open the program to your previous session's window size? Every time I open the program it fills my complete desktop (and NO I do not have any Window's shortcut set to run: Maximized).

Yes, if you right click anywhere in the main edit window, the cursor will turn into a hand shape - keep your finger on the button and you can move the view area around. Coupled with using the mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out, it very easy to navigate using the mouse only.
Sorry, the program does not currently retain the window size in the Windows version.

Thanks for responding, Allan.
But the cursor doesn't change to a hand when I right click a clear area...is there a 'setting' or possible conflict somewhere?

No, I have not come across this problem before. Is your right click button working in other situations? eg right clicking on a point on a contour should bring up a context menu.
What are your system specs and what type of mouse are you using?

Allan
YES (right-click button working in other situations). I do get a context menu (Properties/Make first node/Delete/etc) when right-clicking on a node...but no hand when right-clicking in open area.
OS: Win XP Home Edition (3.4Ghz processor / 3G ram / NO Virus-Security software running / NO System Clean-up running)
Mouse: Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 (4-button w/wheel) I wouldn't expect them too, but none of the other buttons (when clicked in an open area) create the 'hand' navigation either. Only navigation is the scroll bars and zoom in-out.
Nothing else 'mapped' to this button but the standard right-click Windows action(s)/context menu(s).
Would/could the Demo version be a cause?

It is possible that your mouse is not configured properly. Here is someone else with your same mouse where certain types of right-click does not work: www.techrepublic.com/forums/questions/can-not-right-click-with-intellimouse-explorer-20/They fix it by changing some mouse properties. The demo version would not be the cause - there is nothing different between the full and demo versions regarding mouse actions. You should make sure you have the latest version of Type 3.2 demo (3.2.035) though.

"It is possible that your mouse is not configured properly. "
Well...double check mouse configuration...checked your link about Intellimouse...downloaded/installed latest mouse software [IP32Eng6.20.182.0.exe]. Still no 'hand' navigation???
Let's remember that I DO get the Type3 context-menu when I right-click any node !!! Doesn't that give us a clue that the mouse's right-click IS functioning (at least up to the point of 'hand' navigation) properly?
FYI: By the details I gave in last post, my system exceeds the requirements for Type3 or the Intellimouse. So where can we go from here?
[ Appreciate your time, Allan. We've already got more time in this than the software cost ! ]

Based on this I think that maybe the right clicks on your mouse might be registering as right 'double clicks' (I don't know if this is a setting with your driver?). When I use right double-clicks I get the same response as you - context menu works, but drag navigation does not.
If this is the case I should be able to compensate for it in the next update.

The mystery deepens...
Not sure why your double(right)-click opens context menu but I went into Intellimouse configuration and noted that the current setting for right button was 'Right-click (Default)'; but I set it to 'Double click' and applied. With that setting right-clicking on a node selects the complete contour(all nodes on that path selected—the equivalent to Type3's Ctrl+Left click).
Reset the button to default 'Right click', get the context menu with right-click on any node but NO hand navigation when clicking on any open area.
btw: In all other applications the right button/right-click functions as the normal single right-click...

Left double clicking will also select a contour, so I think you are possibly reconfiguring the right button to do a 'left double-click'.
The only way I can get the hand 'not' to appear is if I do a right double click, or if I right click to bring up a context menu, but don't select anything and then try and right-click drag. In both these circumstances ideally the 'drag' hand should appear. So I will correct these in the next update, and am hoping this might also fix your issue.

If it's not too much to ask, email me if/when that update comes out (alexhix_@hotmail.com).
Thanks
