Hi. I have been trying to create a font from my own handwriting and I ran into a problem. I can't open the gfs files of the letters that I scanned in and traced with Cr8tracer. I was thinking of giving up but I figured I would ask here. Can you help me?

A .gfs file created using CR8tracer does not contain all the information required for a font, but only glyph (character) data. This means that you cannot open it directly using Type 2.2 - you have to add it to an existing font.
Using Type 2.2 create a new font using new from the file menu, then select add .gfs data from the file menu to open the .gfs. Note that Type light does not support .gfs, so you need Type 2.2 full or demo version.
But if you already knew that Deb, and you think that the .gfs may be corrupt, please send it to me at allanmurray@cr8software.net and I will try and repair it.
Cheers.
