1) Would it be possible to preserve the postscript name (e.g. name of a glyph within an icon font) when re-mapping? 2) Export of the name list including the corresponding unicode (e.g. 0xE000 = fw-alpha, 0xE001 = fw-beta, ...)?

What I've figured out so far, is that postscript names containing "illegal characters" or having a length greater than 31 chars will not be preserved. Nevertheless, mapping glyphs, with valid names, will cause losing their name ... I assume it shouldn't be like that.
Another attempt to preserve the names (of ~5600 glyphs) was to put them into a Glyph Group, export that group and modify / correct the invalid names; afterwards re-loading that group. Unfortunately the names didn't get re-assigned to the glyphs.
