Never attempted to create a font before and trying to use typelight 2.2 (light version). I'm finding the manual a little taxing. A step-by-step tutorial for creating an original font character would be very helpful for a novice like me. Is there something like this available or do I just need to gut it out.

Hello Dave, I assume that it is the glyph drawing aspect you are having trouble with. I don't have a tutorial specifically for Type light, but the drawing tools are similar to other vector drawing programs. To draw a glyph, you have to define its shape with 'thickness'. A lower case l for example, would be a rectangle, not a line. The simplest way to draw this would be to use the rectangle tool. To draw an o you need to define the inner curve and the outer curve. The simplest way to do this is to use the elipse tool. Draw two circles, one inside the other. Now you have to change the direction of one of the circles (see diagram on page 16 of the manual). Use the select tool to draw a box over a point on the inner circle (it will turn red), then select reverse from the contour menu. These are two very simplistic examples using the elipse and rectangle tools. You can use the other line and curve drawing tools to create more complex shapes. Remember to close all contours. The draw tool works like the standard pen tool in other graphics programs. Here is a good example in InDesign: desktoppub.about.com/od/indesigntutorials/ss/id_animations_3.htmHope this helps. I am happy to answer any more specific questions. Cheers. Allan
