Kerning

I have recently downloaded the demo version of the software and have successfully imported glyphs created in Illustrator. I want to purchase the full version but am having some real problems over kerning pairs. However much I bring characters - such as V and A - together, when I save the font and bring it into my Font Book application on my iMac and then open up Photoshop (which is where I do most of my work), the letters type as if the kerning had not taken place. This is very frustrating and I can't understand what I'm doing wrong (if anything). Might someone be able to help me?
Many thanks.

Make sure that you have kerning set to "metrics" in Photoshop - this means that it will use the kerning that you have built into the font.

Many thanks for that and, yes, it does work.
Since then I have encountered another problem but this time in Word. The font I've created is sliced off at the top at whatever point size or paragraph spacing I determine. Is there a fix for this?
Regards.

If any of your artwork goes above the ascent line or below the descent line (in the edit window of Type 3.2), then it may get 'clipped'.

No, it doesn't: all the glyphs go no higher than caps height. Photoshop is fine; it's just Word (thus far...).

If you want to send me your font (allanmurray@cr8software.net), I will have a look at it.

Kerning

I'm looking to purchasing this program but I want to make sure it is going to do what I need. I have the font designed in illustrator and have imported it but I have been getting some issues with the kerning. The letters are stacked on top of each other when I'm typing and I'm not sure if it is something in the Cr8 software I need to adjust. I usually work in Indesign and can fix the issue by adding a lot of kerning, but I believe that I should be able to type with out having to go back and adjust everything. Is their a way to fix this or is their something I'm missing? Thanks for your time and help in advance.

Although you use the 'kerning' function in InDesign to fix this, the issue does not sound like a font kerning one ('kerning' in font editors is a special adjustment to the default spacing for certain character pairs). It just sounds like the default character spacing of your glyphs are not set properly. When you open a glyph in the edit window, the magenta and green vertical lines determine the width of the character and hence its spacing. To adjust just drag the boxes at the top to the left and right. Note that the magenta line is normally on the y axis (ie at x=0).
