Hi, I have just started using the full version and a very basic question: How can I connect two areas? Screenshot attached. Would be great if you can help me. Best - Peter Attachments:

There are a few ways you could do this.
The easiest is probably to extend or move the left hand piece so that it overlaps slightly the section that you want to join to, then select the whole contour (right click on node/select contour) then select remove overlap from the contour menu.
Another way would be to cut the contours with the knife tool, and then join the endpoints (making sure that the contours are in the correct direction first).
(refer to page 11 of the manual - cutting and joining contours)

Hi - I would have a follow up question:
Is it possible to create shortcuts for actions to perform them with one click? for example: "select all / smooth" ?
Would help me a lot!
Best - Peter

Not on one click, but you can setup a shortcut for one key press.
If you go to global menu/assign shortcut keys, you can assign the digit keys (1-7) to run a particular action script when pressed.
