I’m trying to create a Japanese font (with just katakana initially). I have tested by adding the first 5 katakana characters. When I install this font on my computer it seems to work OK in excel but not in word or photoshop. I can see the font listed in photoshop (and word) but when I try to use the appropriate keys for the test katakana the characters revert to a default Japanese font. Do I need to register the font as being Japanese in some way?

On the unicode scripts setting of the mapping window, select 30A0 Katakana, and make sure the active box is ticked.

Hi - thanks this has done the trick - it seems that you also have to be sure to untick the active box in the basic latin window too.
