Hi, I'm a new user of Type Light, and never did any kind of font editing before. What a nice piece of software! Thank you for making this available.
My question: I have edited a few glyphs, and saved the font. Since the Kerning feature is not included in the Light free edition, how is the kerning of this revised font affected?
Is only the edited glyph affected, with no kerning assigned to it?
Or does the entire font lose its kerning?
Thanks for any advice.

With the light version there are two options available:
1. keep all kerning values as per the original font (including the modified glyph - which may or may not be what you want, depending on how you modified the glyph) or 2. remove all kerning from the font
You can select which option by using font options from the font menu. Just un-check the kerning box if you want to remove all kerning.
Of course, with the full version you would be able to alter or remove kerning from individual glyphs.

Hi Allan, thanks for responding.
The Font Options dialog in the Type Light edition does not offer the option to change kerning. That is grayed out and disabled. The only options available that can be checked or un-checked are: Hinting GASP table Open Type
So I still don't know what happens to existing kerning. (I was going to attach a screenshot, but I see no way to do that.)
Please, can you explain? Thanks for any help.

If the option is greyed out, then the original font has no kerning.

Thanks for clearing up my mystery.
I hope I don't have too many more silly questions, but I will probably be back.
Love the software, although it is hard to get used to working with vector-type tools after so many years of raster bitmaps! Many thanks!
