I have a very simple need for A font editor.
I have a font that has no characters with Macron. So I just need to copy a glyph assign a unicode to it as make a small edit (add the Macron above the character).
Can I do this with Type Light?

Sorry, do you mean copy the glyph from another font?
Type light is not really designed to able to transfer glyphs between fonts (the full version has this feature), but if you are copying only one glyph then you can open your source font, copy the glyph to clipboard, then open your destination font, then paste.

Nope on the same font. The easiest way I can see to create Glyphs with Macrons is to copy a similar letter and edit it. For example to get a Cap Ū with a macron (ALT+0362 or Ū) I would copy the glyph for Ü, Rename the glyph properly so it could be typed as a Ū (with a macron), then edit the glyph so the dots were a macron. I am stuck with a font that has no macrons and changing the font is not an option.
So Can I do this in Type Light?

When you say "rename the glyph properly", what you are referring to the process of 'mapping', which is assigning a unicode value (character) to a glyph.
Find the character in the mapping window (it will be grey if there is no glyph mapped to it), and double click on it. This will create a blank glyph that is mapped to that character. Now paste your Ü into that blank glyph and edit it. That's all you need to do, except that you might also want to use the rename font option on the font menu if you don't want to overwrite your original font.
